Gone are the “Jingle Bells”, and now “Dong dong qiang” is here! In preparation for Chinese New Year, I’m sure everyone is off to get nianhuo, which can be translated as “CNY goods”. It’s customary to have new clothes for CNY and also all the tidbits to offer to our guests, so we have put together a list of places you can get them this Year of the Dragon!

You know how serious they are in making biscuits by looking at their catalogue of a whopping 144 biscuits listed under their CNY category! From the traditional pineapple roll and ngaku chips to the seemingly modern golden pumpkin cracker and spicy potato, there’s definitely a flavour that would suit your taste buds. To go with this Dragon Year, perhaps some dragon cookies might be apt, haha!

Sisbake
If delectable matcha and dark chocolate-flavoured biscuits are your cup of tea, do check out Sisbake’s selection! This small kitchen run from home only makes butter cookies of three flavours—Butter, Matcha, and Dark Chocolate. I’ve not tried it myself (yet!), but people who recommended them to me swear they are the best! Be careful! Once you start a bite of them, there might not be any left for the guests!

Machino x Behati
There are many local online and offline shops with interesting selections for CNY fits this year.
For the occasion, Behati teamed up with Machino to bring you CNY fits and footwear. Machino puts forward four designs featuring Chinese Knots on both flats and heels. There’s black, white, light denim, and dark denim to choose from. What’s interesting is that you can tread a string to the back of the shoe all the way up your calves to create another design.
To match, Behati released a series of “Dynasty” pieces that scream haute couture. The collection adds a twist of contemporary style to traditional cheongsam and samfu with its exaggerated floral design and challenges the boundaries of a typical cheongsam length.
